We would first like to sincerely apologize to all the fans and relevant parties for any concern and inconvenience that has been caused due to the matter regarding our affiliated talents.
While Yoshimoto Kogyo has thus far worked to achieve thorough compliance and the exclusion of antisocial forces company-wide, as provided below, due to the occurrence of this matter, our employees and talents will reattempt to strive for thorough compliance.
There is no doubt that will rebuild a compliance system that is best for our entire group and that we will comply in good-faith with such system. However, as a result of such situation having occurred, we cannot deny that there were aspects that could not be fully covered with our efforts and methods, and Yoshimoto Kogyo has accepted this point and will confront and reconsider this issue with sincerity. We will once again carry out interviews with the talents so that such situation will never occur, and if any relation, behavior or otherwise that violates compliance is discovered or is suspected, we will thoroughly identify the situation and promptly deal with it. In addition, we intend to invite those from the administrative agencies including the police, as well as legal experts including private risk control advisors and lawyers, for their various knowledge and opinions from multiple aspects, to rebuild and operate our compliance system, while flexibly and optimally making adjustments thereto, according to the circumstances of situations that arise from time-to time, so that our talents can rightfully continue to shine.
And in the event a scandal is discovered, we will make a decision that is acceptable to everyone, and properly and promptly report such decision to the public and the relevant parties through our official homepage.
By continuing the above efforts, Yoshimoto Kogyo would like to continue to be a company that is loved and trusted by the public and contribute to a society full of happiness and laughter.
In addition, it is a fact that there have been rumors of relations with antisocial forces in the long history of the entertainment industry, and we believe that in the past this was not an exception even with our company.
However, we would like to firmly pledge and declare that the current Yoshimoto Kogyo has no relations with any antisocial forces and will not have any relations therewith in the future.
If we should receive unreasonable pressure or threats from antisocial forces in the future, we will thoroughly fight and firmly eliminate them by closely collaborating with the relevant authorities and agencies.
We sincerely and deeply apologize for having caused any concern and inconvenience regarding this matter. We thank you for your understanding.
At the same time as the 2009 delisting, Yoshimoto Kogyo clearly set out its separation from antisocial forces and has endeavored for its elimination with a strong faith. A compliance committee was newly composed, former police and lawyers were brought in to organize the compliance system, and compliance was sought in all of the group companies.
As an aspect thereof, compliance training was commenced in 2009, and since then, individual meetings are held by managers with their individually-assigned talents once every year, and compliance training in the form of group training sessions at theaters has been held for the other mostly younger talents. We have put together cases that have received attention in the entertainment industry and in the public from time-to-time, which emphasize the elimination of antisocial forces, as topics in a booklet, and have explained such cases by mixing in specific examples from advisors such as in-house counsel and former police. We have also been calling to attention on a daily basis that, regardless of whether a talent is famous or unknown, so long as the talent is engaging in talent activities by bearing the confidence of Yoshimoto Kogyo, the talent must have a strong awareness for compliance as a talent including in their private activities, since they won’t know when or what kind of trouble they may become involved in.
In addition, from 2015, group training for young talents are being held twice per year, once in the first half and once in the second half of the year, and further, from 2016, as separate from the training mentioned above, instructors from the police have been invited to carry out training regarding the dangers of antisocial forces, drugs and other matters.
In this way, through the training geared towards the affiliated talents, Yoshimoto Kogyo has thus far worked to achieve the improvement and thoroughness of compliance awareness. As a result, Yoshimoto Kogyo has been trusted by customers and public interest groups not only throughout Japan but also overseas, including in Asia, and has given its best to be a company that is supported with the confidence and dedication of all of its fans.
However, under such circumstances, we are sincerely regretful for our affiliated talents being found to have been involved with antisocial forces, and we feel great shame and are fully aware of our responsibility therefor.
Finally, including the matter that is being reported, any and all acts of the approximately 6,000 affiliated talents and the approximately 1,000 employees are entirely the responsibility of the company. While this will be repetitive, we as the entire Yoshimoto Kogyo group are resolute in doing our best for a further and thorough compliance and hereby express such determination.
